Brier Rose I


Marion Drake and Seth Rose met and married when she was twenty-three and he was twenty-five and about to complete his dentistry program. Seth Rose was known as a serious, studious, and most of all sensible young man.  His marriage to Marion, a directionless wild child, troublemaker and self-acknowledged abuser of various pain medications and really whatever mood altering substance that happened to be handy, was a complete surprise to his parents. His few friends from college, however, had predicted that eventually the tight-laced young man would fall apart somehow. Someone who knew all the rules of law and society, kept them, fastidiously, and then made up some of his own for good measure, couldn’t be completely right in the head.
